Help needed on CL650 Chiller

Hi,

I have a CL650 chiller and is currently connected to a Ehiem 1060 (flowrate of 2280 l/h). I have this 'funny' problem with it... the chiller will turn on for about 1.5 min and rest for 3.5 min and then on again for 1.5 min.... I noticed that the temperature in dicator will indicate 29C and the chiller will kick in - afterwhich the temperature will then drop 1 degree after 45 sec, cutting off at 27C. All this while the tank's temperature is within the 27.x range.

From what I understand, this should not be the case. Wonder if there are anyone with the same problem? Is it because my flowrate is too high or too low?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanx.

PS: I'm using the CL650 for my 380l tank.

Regards...

Dotty

1)

If your pump is having head loss that cause the flow to be below 700l/Hr and you will discover that the chiller actually kick in very frequently but maintaining the tank temp +/- 0.6°C

2)

If your chiller is having it's in/out on the same small sump, you will experience this as well becuase it'll cool the sump so fast that it cut off before have a good mix with the main tank.

 isn't maintaining temp at 27.x°C in your main tank is what you want. If so, just leave it because if you touch the chiller comp, it will not be as hot as chilling from 29-27°C. You will notice that the room temp is not as hot as well to have more frequent start /stop. I just worry that the chiller life might be shorten. This is just my opinion.
