RED ALERT 2 inch mantis shrimp in rock "CAUGHT"

[bspotted a 2 inch mantis shrimp inside my tank

manage to flash out few big rocks as i believe this bugger to be hidding in there.

how to get it out

need to say bye bye to my life rock....change it to dead rock liao

it depends on wat kind of mantis.. last time i use to have a peacock mantis tank.. buy fresh water lobster as food for her....

have a 2 x 1 x 1 ft tank lying ard...

so those ppl who have killer damsels or wrasse, can donate to me to feed the mantis!

try to dry up the 3 big Life rocks..

currently..my tank have

Tonga branches >> fine branches &

2 life rocks.

So far no Mantis sightings in my tank.

Going to re-introduce the "Dry UP" life/dead rocks into the tank on this fri and sunday to prevent any water chemistry from going bad

if you think its still in a piece of particular rock, dip it in very high salinity. My came out after 15 mins.

Could it be that the mantis came out and are hiding in sand/other rock/corner when you are removing the rock?

last time..i put all the rocks inside a pail of high salinity water..most of the things come out..

i think its safe...until the fateful days my wife spotted a "cute" little eyes.

then i saw that 2 - 3 inch Mantis....

you can try setting a trap for it. Best that you know its hiding place since your family saw it. I post a similar thread here too:

If all else fails...eg..salinity,trapping,etc...then the last resort would be to locate which rock its in then take the rock & boil it for sometime......Ur rock's dead anyway from the previous treatment.....at least U can still culture back the rock after that...rather than soaking..let say...in bleach solution which, if not washed properly might just contaminate Ur tank....

Other than the above U can discard the rock which the bastard used for hiding. Then get another rock.....
