How to feed blue streak goby

Hi,

I have a blue streak goby that I bought about a month ago. Very elusive guy, only seen it sifting out sand and hiding under some LR. Never have I seen it coming out into the open and eat like the other fish. I noticed that its tomach is very flat, How to feed this guy? I give Ocean nutrition flake and pellet food for my fish. Please advice me. Cheers.

hey bro...hows my stuff doing?

hope they are well!

anyway, the BS goby are sand sifters. they will pick up food that is left on the sand. flakes float on water and pellets might have been taken by all your fishes before they even reach the bottom.

id suggest you get some frozen mysis shrimp to try.

usually they will feed.

Hi bro,

Your algae blenny and scooter blenny are doing very well. In fact my smaller sccoter blenny seems to be getting along quite well with the new but bigger brother that I got from you. They are usually moving quite close to each other.

I do have some uneaten pellet food on the sand bed but not sure if they will be picked up by this fellow.

It has been in my tank for more than a month now, is it ok? Hope it will not starve to death! :ooh:

Dun worry bro, blue streak is super tough. Like what diabolus said they feed by sifting through your sand for alage and micro organism such as pods and also forminifera. ;)

They are useful in keeping your sand sparkly clean. Although I prefer its other cousins such as Brown Bar and Sphinx goby. Feel that Blue Streak like to sift sand at high spot thus dropping sands all over my corals. ;)

Blue streaks are B52 bombers!

especially you have big targets on the sandbed like pratas and clams.

;)

Yup. I ever lost a Trachy this way until I decided to hunt down the murderer by tearing down my tank!

That's why I have been looking for other alternatives to keep my sandbed clean. Have tried out the Crabeye / Signal gobies but no matter how I do it, I never have success with them. They are now in my black book of definite no no fishes to get. ;)

I prefer the cousins of the Blue Streak such as Brown Bar, Orange Spotted and Sphinx. :P They are also effective sand sifter but do swim that high to bomb.

So far, this fellow just "bombs near to the "cave" where it usually hides. Is it more of a nocturnal fish? It is very shy, whenever some other fish gores near it, it will dart back to its hideout.

Actually saw one fish (I think it is a spotted hawkfish) trying to disturb it whenever it tries to come out yesterda y night. :nc:
