maxima placement

I have a maxima for the past weeks and he is doing fine on the subtrate; often digging into it. I read the issue of placing them on the rock and bury the rock into the sand. Is this a better way to place maxima?

I may not have access to LR of a suitable shape and size. Can I use regular flat pebble rock instead?

Yes or either you can place the rock half buried into the sand and den place the clam on top of it,..... having their byssal attached to soemthing, it is more diff for predator to get there
