Haha kee , ultimately i bet u still enjoyed yrself rite? The police are just doing their job to enforce order , considering the large no of foreigners in the area last nite. Remember the matas r law enforcers , not customer service officers wor.. Cheers to Singapore Lions who done us proud.
SRC Member huskiesg Posted January 16, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted January 16, 2005 It is a proud moment for the local soccer scene. It has been a while there was a full attendance at the National Stadium for a local soccer match Too bad I had to miss the match due to work Sure remind me of Malaysia Cup days * the Kallang Roar* Quote Life is a Cruel Teacher. SRC Member diabolus Posted January 17, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted January 17, 2005 the only thing was that the referee was too card happy.firm, but really too card happy. He should have given Aide Iskandar a warning instead of the his 2nd yellow card, knowing well that the Indons have already lost the cup. but overall, a good performance by SGP except for the last 15 minutes. Raddy have got to prepare them to stay focus for the full 90 minutes if he wants to do well in the forthcoming SEA games.

I also feel the Lions should stop giving away the ball too easily, they tend to have the "whack the ball upfield" mentality when the recieve the ball... SRC Member blue.tang Posted January 17, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted January 17, 2005 We're the champion...but nothing great rite? Even now if s'pore to play again Thailand , s'pore still the under dog.. even though spore juz won the cup...agreed? Not that i'm not supporting s'pore, but see the way they played, how to match thailand & not saying JP & Korean..
SRC Member flamey Posted January 18, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted January 18, 2005 if thailand is soooo good hw come they nt even in the semis? did u watch thailand play their group games? they're in the midst of rebuilding a new team..long gone all their star players... on the other hand, even though spore is rebuilding a new team, they managed to win the cup in the process with a solid back four an our very own tiger cup most valuable player as keeper.. IMO almost all the credits should go to our coach raddy avramovich and his backroom staffs. he knows what he have in hand and work to the best of his ability. might nt be pleasing on the eye but its damn effective. e.g. who else in the world would play two VERY defensive minded midfield players together in the middle of the park? he knows thats where his strength lies and fully utilised it. he has instilled 2 attributes that was NEVER associated with the lions dat is FITNESS and DISCIPLINE. people might say they keep on pumping the ball but hell they've scored 13 goals 4 games! hope they build on this high standards they've set themselves...lets go one step further by qualifying for the asian cup finals. and lastly i rili hope FAS will nt let raddy go. cheers

terryansimon
I agree. tha thais have entered their transition phase right now, and are on the verge of bringing in new blood into their team, hence their rather disastrous outing in the tiger cup. but you can't expect a lot if you're injecting new talent into the squad. my question to blue.tang is, would you rate myanmar as a good team? if you like history, you'll actually find out to your *and mine too* that Myanmar was a South East Asian powerhouse, WAY BEFORE Thailand/Vietnam/Indonesia became anything that they are today. SRC Member AquaRa Posted January 19, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted January 19, 2005 greece sucks. they play man-marking 1. their objective is to get the other side frustrated den launch a counter-offensive
terryansimon
greece sucks. they play man-marking 1. their objective is to get the other side frustrated den launch a counter-offensive and because of that they suck? gee. that's a really shallow and sweeping statement. the game of football is one with many faces, all with the purpose of winning. Brazil plays fluid attacking football, because they know they win games like that. and opposition players quake in their pants as the Brazillian waves come like that. so if a minow of a team like Greece were to play Brazil, what do they do? what else? man mark, and wait for a flaw/opening and launch a counter attack. only foolish teams will try to match the guile of Brazil and run pace for pace with them. unless that foolish team is not a minow like Greece, but some other team like....I dunno, another Brazil? bwilly
looking at how Singapore play, you know its a one off run. Indonesia does not seem to be playing their normal self. Singapore used to be the whipping boys of the ASEAN teams, how come out of sudden becomes ASEAN champion??
Forwards
Everyone in my office agrees on one thing.... Singapore football is a waste of time.... Winning the final was a ONE off run.... Watch all the future matches and TIME will reveal the truth.... Im a Singaporean but im also a realistic Singaporean... Football is all about Consistency and Skills...of which we have precious little... Think back to the Singapore team of the 70's, then fast forward to today..... Glaring difference....... No offense but enjoy all you want with the Champions cos it aint coming again for at least another 10 years. Me, I'm just a realistic Singaporean

Me, I'm just a realistic Singaporean team of the 70s eh?? hmmm... with no disrespect to the 70s, 80s national team who did they play against that they are consistently winning? pahang? kedah? selangor?? haha what a joke... or did they CONSISTENTLY win the sea games? or seap games before that? i DONT think so... they've NEVER and i repeat NEVER EVER won any regional tournaments in the history of Football Association of Singapore before 1998 bro.. and they won two REGIONAL (nt malaysia) cup in wat 6 yrs or so? and you should noe better that football is also abt teamwork, solidity and more importantly RESULTS and hw many CUPs u win! and the fact that spore won both the regional tourneys POST msia cup days is something that NOBODY can argue about.. n i dont mind waiting another 10 yrs for the next time they win a regional tourney.. at least i noe it will be coming unlike team of the 50s rite up to the 80s/90s that had won nuts... i rili dont understand wat 'realistic singaporeans' wants.. singapore to win the world cup? singapore to play like brazil? lose kanna condemned, win also kanna condemned.. im sorry if my post seems a bit heated up coz dats hw i am rite nw... im just fed up with good ol' 70s stories frm people who just refused to move forward to the 21st century(in terms of LOCAL football)... cheers!
