DIY 6 tubes T5

Hi Guys,

just to share, have jus completed a set of DIY 6 tubes T5 3ft (39watt)

after done, worked out the cost,

it is actually not worth doing it, if there is T5 3tubes selling S$139

material cost

6 tubes $120

3 e-ballast $60(if ebiru will be $20)

I am using 1X ebiru and 2X osram (cost more)

over here would like to tell the diff between ebiru and osram

ebiru lighted up immediately when switched on,

where osram will lighted up the two end with orange colour, then finally fully lighted the tubes.

Arcyli cost $20

end cap not water proof $0.60 X 12-$7.2

3pin plug $1.00 X 3

wiring for ballast to tube est. 12 mtr for $4

wiring for socket 6 mtr $4

others eg. cable tie, stainless steel screw and nut.

I am using stainless steel sheet metal for reflector

(not include any reflector cost) (got 1 pcs old one)

also must equip with all necessary tools.

total cost is est to be $220

Yeah not worth it already... also if you don't use reflectors then it's quite sad coz you will lose a lot of light... I mean individual reflectors

how did u get the endcaps, are they normal ones for t8?

actually T5 end cap is not easily can get from any electrical shop unless in Simlim,

I got it from Ubi, the shop event selling the clips, the end cap is from Itay,

what i think end cap do not really play apart,

i have tried even using connector, and it work too.
