Hi all,

Noob here so really hope can get some advice from the big bros/gurus here :P

I have a 47cm X 27 X 27 tank. Nano tank actually. I currently have a tomato clown and lots of live rocks in it. My main bio filtration is done thought my Macro NW 100 skimmer and lots of live rocks (almost filling the entire tank around 10 plus Kg). Regarding the sand, as my tank is too small for a DSB I currently only have like 2 and a half inches of grade 0 sand. My question is because I have a really nano tank, space is really a contraint, can i actually do away with the sand? As in reduce it to maybe an inch or even half an inch? Because I'm thinking since it's not deep enough (like at least 6 inches ina DSB) to really have any bio filtration capability (eg. anaerobic bacteria) can i reduce so that i get more viewing space and more water volume? :erm:

Thanks in advance guys :thanks::thanks:

hmmm... if u have space below the tank, get an overflow box, then get a sump..

other than that, i guess a cannister would do.. but im no guru on nano tanks.. wait till what others got to say..

i only know how to take up more space.. thats why my suggestion also requires u to have more space.. :angel::upsidedown:

The world is such a wicked place,war btween the human race. People work to earn their bread,while across the sea they're counting dead
