Let There Be Life

By the 5th day, I have largely completed the overall rockscape. I have also transferred more corals from my old tank.

Here's how the tank looked on the 6th day (9 Nov 2004). I'd also added more corals. The few SPS colonies and frags were purchased from a fellow reefer. I'm thankful that he had agreed to sell me these and also taught me a few things about SPS.:bow::bow:

I'm relieved to report that these SPS are still with me today ... almost three months now.:D

hmmm.. seemed to have coloured up now right??

Bro wa_lanz, a couple of them only lah ...

Sandbed

I seeded the sandbed with some mud from the old tank. Within a couple of weeks, I can see bubbles building up in the sandbed. Here's how the sandbed looked on 28 Nov 2004 (about 3+weeks). :yeah: You can also see the usual diatoms starting to plague the sand surface.

Bro, not intending to put any fishes??  ;)

Bro RAV-65, haha ... as if I can resist.

Here's my reef on 28 Nov 2004. I've transferred everything from the old tank to the new. Most of the fishes and corals you see here have been with me for two years. New additions are the SPS, Chevron Tang, Anthias, Lobophyllia and Cynarinas.

OK, that's all for tonight. Please feel free to comment.

Happy Reefing. :)

wooO, really impressive on ur rockscape.

love it.

keep it coming. =)

If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless.

Genesis 1:20

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

Cynarina Mishap

Just to share this experience ...

At the end of Nov 2004, I was outstationed for a few days. Upon my return, I found that one of my precious Cynarinas was badly stung by another coral. The flesh has receded and skeleton was exposed. :cry2:

The series of photos below show its slow but steady recovery. For two months, it lived in my sump where I nursed it back to health. I gave it subdued lighting and fed it a couple of times a week with a variety of food eg. small pieces meat, Cyclopeze, etc.

I'll give it a couple of more weeks before moving it back into the main tank. :D

And this is the fella that stung the Cynarina. The Cynarina's position was dislodged and was leaning against it.

I've no idea what coral is this. I bought it from another reefer whom has no idea too.

Can someone kindly help me to identify it, please? :thanks:

Otherwise, maybe I'll just call it either the Durian or the Esplanade.

Bro, the parameters are pretty decent.... but like they'll always tell you, go for zero nitrates... :P

Anyway, the cyanrina cannot put on sandbed??

You're right that I should strive for zero NO3. But not easy with so high bioload and heavy feeding. :P

Do you mean that Cynarinas will do better when placed on the sandbed?
