I'm upset. :cry2:

I thought Sally Lightfoot crabs are herbivorous?

I bought three Firefishes from ML yesterday. This morning while doing the usual roll-call, I found Sally hiding under a rock greedily snacking on one of the Firefish. I can see that the Firefish is not dead. It is still struggling and I can see its mouth breathing.

The Blood Shrimp is also waiting on the side for scraps, I guess.

Sigh ... and there's nothing I can do about it. So sad ... :cry2:

So is the circle of life.

Read if before in RC, when the sallies ran out of micro algae, they will turn to other food source. :(

Maybe you firfish also going liao thus, it took the opportunity to have a quick meal. :(

pity..

If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless.

Genesis 1:20

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

Yah, damn those crabs.

I've got two Sally Lightfoots. Gotta think of a way to extract them.

Those of us keeping Sallies better keep a close eye on their smaller fishies.

FYI, the Sally has finished eating half of the Firefish. My Cleaner and Blood Shrimps kept trying to steal a pinch but the Sally doesn't want to let go.

Octopus? No way am I putting in an octopus ... :pinch:

I think most of us will do our best to rid the liverocks of pest crabs before putting in the tank. But no matter how hard we try, somehow some tiny crabs will spring forth and grow into big troublesome pests over time.

Here's a picture of a big hairy crabs I caught in a glass. The shell (without legs) is about an inch+. And I caught two of them. Both are now living in my sump.

Actually, they kinda look like the so-called Teddy Bear crabs.

erm <_<<_< reef safe can also mean not harming other fishes..... Defination is quite misleading

Reef-safe? I'm not sure so now ... cause I saw one of them plucking the long hairy polyps off my Millepora!!!

I managed to catch one Sally and it's now banished into my sump. One more to go.

Anyway, look what I found in my sump ... :D

Yah, I saw those at ML too. Did you touch it? It feels really soft and "sticks" to the hands easily. So afraid it'll break.

It would be interesting if it survives in my tank. Would be great if it retains the colour as well.

Guess what? I left this little fella in my sump. It crawled towards the pump intake and got suck through the main return pump Ehiem 1262. :pinch: While it was floating in the main tank, my Coris Wrasse and other fishes took turns to peck at it probably thinking ... "yummy, a delicious worm". :pinch: Surprisingly, none of the fishes ate it. Then it went into the overflow and back down into the sump. I thought it's probably dead already. Afterall, it kenna wacked terok terok by the impeller and pecked by fishies.

So I picked it up again and .... it's still alive and well!!! :yeah: ... happily crawling on my hands, its mouth tentacles opening as if looking for food. :yeah:

I took it and lower it gently onto a liverock in the tank. Let's see if it survives. :D

I think it's a baby Sea Cucumber. Not sure which species.

Should I put it into the tank? Decisions, decisions ...

Here's a closer look at its head.
