octo is frogspawn... frogspawn is octo.... best to identify them is by their scientific name paradivisa or divisa

as far as i noe, for euphyllia family, there's frogspawn, hammer and octopus

but octopus got split 2 types, one is bumps r quite big and looks very close to frogspawn but is not, the other type is bumps quite small which is wat some refer to as the true octo

paradivisa and divisa refers to the skeleton

true or false refers to the size of the bumps.

this is wat i noe

Hmm probably... but the true and false part is all given by local reefers... like they give durian coral name for galaxia... Quite misleading i should say... nvm you see it you know it

This species is rather sensitive furthermore sometime after the shipment they are badly damages or unhealthy.

The current condition is much better. It expands much bigger.

Shall take a shot when time permit tonight.

Not only that Hammer also got 2 species:

1) Euphyllia ancora - hammer coral

2) Euphyllia parancora - branching hammer coral

Lets not forget Euphyllia cristata - grape coral

And also Euphyllia glabrescens - torch coral

my question of ease of captivity still open for answering!!

tried keeping 6 of them last time in my 3 footer without chiller and sump. All died except 1. this last surviving one was later sold to my friend who has a chiller and sump and with quite decent equipments. It growed significantly but due to abrupt changes in water parameters on 1 fine day, it perished.

they are very sensitive corals. Those that u get from LFS especially newly arrived ones have very low survivability rates say 51-49. Best try get these from reefers who is selling.
