Found a place from the business yellowpages. They have all sorts of acrylic and them can cut it to your specified size too. Not sure if prices are reasonable. Shop located at Ubi Rd 3.

Now that I know where to get acrylic, does anyone know where I can find "weld-on"? Could not find in DIY hardware stores so far.

Thanks.

Hm.. tot the REAL chlorofoam is quite hard to come by in singapore.. those that you find in art fri*nd and stuff are not the full strength chlorofoam...

go to www.dama.com.sg

They are down at Ubi industrial part. I just buy a pair of acrylic rod for my tank. Pretty cheap by industrial standard.

U can give fax them drawing and quote the price first based on your requirement. They can also make custom design if u want. I saw them sell Large acrylic tube - look like those used to make beckett...... next time will try to DIY a skimmer.....

Look for a lady called Lydia. Very helpful.

Bought some acrylic sheets and adhesive from dama earlier in the week. Was testing out how to glue them into a sump. Made a couple of errors.

1. Did not cater for thickness of acrylic sheets.

2. Did not realise that only need a little adhsive. The adhesive is very liquid and I think only a little is required. Capillary action should be able to fuse the pieces together.

Anyone knows whether this adhesive (acrifix 192) is suitable for marine aquarium use?

Thanks.

actually, I use silicon glue to get my acrylic sheets to stick together like a normal glass tank. ;)

So far, so good, pretty strong. Doesn't seem to be a problem.

aiyah, if u need to make a sump, why not use glass? The glass maker can make it cheaper for u then the acrylic DIY.

anyway, u need alot of clamps to hold the pcs together in order ensure good bonding..... just sticking them and letting them stay in 'free mode' is risky... u may have leaks or holes later.

Did a leak test with the trial tank I built. There's a small leak. I am attributing it to not having a consistent layer of adhesive along the edges. Will try again.

Thinking of using acrylic because I assume it is easier for me to drill holes than if I use glass.

Will think about glass if next sump (correct size) fails.
