sps placement near water surface

hhhmmm...i think most reefers should have sumps tat are big enough for at least a 20% water change without affecting the main tank's height...

as minsmarine mentioned, anything below the overflow teeth should be safe..maybe try to do quickie loh..switch off the MH and other lights before changing water..if u notice, i think someone posted b4 that he left his sps unattented for more than 1/2hr because he was applying epoxy and forgot to put it back..but the sps still ok...

When I do water changes 1/3 of my acros are exposed to the air. After I'm done I do notice that all the exposed corals mucus, but in 30mins - 1hr all SPS look normal again with normal polyp extension. I have not lost any corals to this but I would also like to know if air exposure can damage SPS.

I've had sps exposed to air for about 5-6 hours with no problems. Main thing is to keep them moist. So during water change just splash them with seawater whenever you feel like like they are drying out. Turn off your lights to prevent them from being baked.

Always something more important than fish.
