SRC Member clowntrigger Posted January 5, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted January 5, 2005 I have got the aquamedic aqualight MH set, have been using for the past 6 months. Recently burn the ignitor and change it. After the change, I find that the MH is giving out humming noise. The ballast is the german ballast, Vos something but inside there is no capacitor at all. Can it be that there is no capacitor and that is why it is giving out this humming noise? Any idea how to fix it?

SRC Member happy Posted January 5, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted January 5, 2005 Hi, I've read this sound problem in reefcentral too regarding aquamedic light. It seem like random occurance and maybe you should try to get the agent to fix this problem for you.
Sponsor dr evil Posted January 5, 2005 Sponsor Share Posted January 5, 2005 a magnetic ballast will produce a magnetic waves and sometimes if the housing is close to the ballast, it will rattle......what u can do is check ur fixture if there are any loose materials that can cause the rattling sound. as for capacitor, its not really necessary as it is only use if u are running alots ( i meant a lots ) of lights...etc in a bulding. for that case, that it will save electricity. if not, it does not matters. if u look at all e german fixture, they also do not include any capacitor.... cheers
