Surface skimmer need for marine?

I found out that there is some oil patch and white dirt on my water surface. Do you guy think that a surface skimmer is needed?? thanks

if you have a overflow connect to a sump, then you do not need a surface skimmer, but some reefers do have one.

If you are running a cannister, then IMO its best that you get a surface skimmer. this will get rid of most of the oil,dust,hairs and watever thats floating on the water surface - which causes low oxygen in the water.

If u do not have an overflow, its advisable to have a surface skimmer.

its usually connected to a cannister.

its connected to the cannister. Means, its by motor pump!
