Seperated Deep sandbed

hi guys...was wondering, will it work if i created a seperate tank with a deep sandbed?.....i mean its jus a tank with a deepsandbed which will be connected to the main tank....

I think it will work ... I have a DSB in my sump tank too. I feel that it's better ... nothing it's going to disturb my DSB oter than myself ...

a DSB is not going to be at its full potential if the surface area in contact with the water is small...

U need a big sump for a remote DSB to work... maybe u can try pumping it into a large fibre glass pond (indoors) then in the pond have your frags or what grow out... should work the same

if i din rem wrongly, it shld hav an effective area of 2/3 of ur main tank area

ooh...okok..i have a 2ft tank with a 2ft sump....i have stated in my otherpost that my sump cannot put in a deep sandbed....so was thinking of making a seperate one...thanx bros..

Actually, I found my new design DSB works pretty well and keeping my nitrates at 3-5 ppm with only 6 months of maturation.
