acropora

Recommended Posts

Guys,

How long does it take for acropora to colour based on your experiences?

Depends on your capability to provide the kind of water conditions that SPS will demand for.

Basically, clean nutrient-poor water with stable water temperature, calcium & alkalinity supplement levels, good water circulation, very strong light.

How you achieve that is very much to how deep your wallet is OR a lot of time and effort in husbandry skills.

SPS keeping is not for the typical new reefer without the financial commitment or the knowledge.

We're talking about higher electrical bills, higher-end equipment like skimmers, calcium reactors, phosphate control measures, high-end lighting, good pumps for circulation etc etc. :peace:

After that, its species and specimen-specific factors on colour changes... ;)

Have not taken any pic. Will try to take the next couple of days and upload it.

Actually I have 2 frags, one has wholly turned green, while the other is still very brown with polyps fully open, but starting to show some green at the base of one of the branches. If it is RTN, should I then break the branch before it spreads to the other branches? Incidently, I have had the Acropora for about 3 months already.

If my green acropora is dead, it's still very attractive if it retains the green colour. But I suppose it will eventually bleach or get overgrown with algae. Pity.
