Lowering No3

Hi,

I'd like to hear from you guys on how you'd usually go about lowering NO3 in your tank. I'm running on a 2ft and currently looking for different ways on lowering it.

get a 6 inch DSB

Get Coralife Nitrate Reducing chips in a milk carton

Get AzNo3

so many ways. u got to be more specific about your setup

Okay.. sorry.

I'm running on a 2ft FOWLR tank and keeping 2 Percula Clown. Using an Eheim Liberty 200 filter + AA Protein Skimmer.

Been running for about 2 weeks now. Got about 5kg++ of LR.

Using Salifert Test Kit:

NH4 - 0.5mg/L

NO2 - 0.05mg/L

NO3 - Between 50 and 100mg/L (Can't figure out which one on the colour chart)

pH - 8.0mg/L

2 weeks....... Your tank has not finished cycling. No Wonder the nitrates are so ridiculously high and theres ammonia and nitrite. You shouldnt have any fish in there at all. your cycling will be over when no ammonia n nitrite and a low (around 10) nitrate. more than 10 may be a little high but since its a FOWLR with hardy fish i guess its ok.

I forgotten to add a "<" for the NH4

Correction: It should be < 0.5mg/L. Don't know what's the exact value.. just following the colour chart.

Alright.. I will keep the no. of fishes to 2 before I add anymore fish. Btw, I only intend to keep 3 fishes.

juz wait till no more ammonia or nitrite. then ur cycling complete and u can add more fish. clowns are not too delicate. they shld survive if they are already eating well

Rem not to overfeed....

Increase no. of live rocks slowly....
