SRC Member SpiderOne Posted August 30, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted August 30, 2003 take out the bioballs and throw them away , then put coral chips there. then put some wool and maybe some carbon if u want in the other compartment.

Devilben
Why don't use bio-balls. Aqua Techique also using the same system and they are doing fine.
SRC Member ervine Posted August 30, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted August 30, 2003 I too have recently (in fact just) removed all the bio-balls and coral chips that used to be in my sump compartment... replaced with some plastic supports which hold up the filter wool and chemical filtration stuff... SRC Member woonming Posted August 30, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted August 30, 2003 Why don't use bio-balls. Aqua Techique also using the same system and they are doing fine. Not wrong to use bio balls but u may need to have lots of water changes to rid of NO3 .... As bio balls would convert NO2 to NO3 and that where the cycle ends .. Thus if u use bio ball u got only too handle the NO3 and only way is to do water changes ..
SRC Member Clownfish Posted August 31, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted August 31, 2003 I agree with Woon Ming... hav to do frequent water changes.... If u got the money n ability.... try to put in lotsa LR... If possible, convert it into a refugium.... U may wish to go ML to look at Henry's refugium...
