FYI shrimps are one of the most difficult to acclimatize animals

But if you tame me, we shall need each other.

To me, you will be unique in all the world.

To you, I shall be unique in all the world...

You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.

Did you take the time to slowly acclimatize them to your tank water?

u mean put the bag into the tank and slowly add tank water into the bag is it?

As per rest of the advises, shrimp are one of the most difficult to acclimatize livestocks, the rule of the thumb is that whatever methods you have used on your fishes in acclimatization. Incraese it by 2 x and you will not have them dying on you upon adding into you tank. ;)

For me, I will float the bag for 20 mins after which, I will the bag (Shrimp & Water) into another small container and slowly drip my tank water into it.

When I check that the level of water into the container have increase by 3/4 vs the initial water from the bag. I will let it bubble for another 1/2 hours before adding to my tank. ;)

I don't mean to boast.

but. I've had two batches of Fire Shrimps from Marine Life.

first batch, I did the acclimatisation process via dripping.

second batch, I dumped it into the tank directly without acclimatising *don't crucify me.*

both batches are still alive till today...

henceforth, all my other shrimps that I purchased were just dumped in with minimal acclimatisation *only floating of bags to allow temperature to achieve equilibrium.*

Bought 2 blood shrimp home. One died after 1/2 hr when introduced it to the tank.. the other B Shrimp okay.

any idea what happen?

environment shock?

when i started this hobby 2 years back, i purchase 2 CS, one died immediately once i introduce into the tank w/o acclimatisation.. i mean immediately not even 5 sec, after i throw in the fellow kick once and up lorry liao <_< i guess its due to poor acclimatisation or shock.... <_<

Bro, what I believe happened to you is that the params in the bag and your tank is quite similiar thus, when you dump in - it does not cause any shock to the shrimp thus no problem. ;)

Params, differs due to:

1. salt mix

2. level on ammonia, nitrite & nitrates

3. dissolve oxygens

4. DOM (Dissolve Oganic Materials)

5. Trace elements etc

I didn't know that shrimp is most difficult.

I was like simon also, never accumulate. Just let the plastic pack float for 20-30 mins and than just put into the tank.

Same method goes for 100% water change as well.

So far no shrimp loss ( other than I killed accidentally, rock fall on them :( ).

I used to have 2 BShrimp and 1 CShrimp.

Same for LS also, just float around for 20-30 mins and not LS loss, so far.

Life is like a peice of Uncured Live Rock [ from LFS ], you never know what you gonna get.........

after work went home then see it hide inside.
