Why is my red coraline on LR turning white ?

Hi,

Can anyone offer me any advise ? Most of my LR has this red coraline structure. Some extended out very nicely.

I recently changed my MH (2x150W) timing from 5 hours to 7 hours and I start to see them turning white [see image].

I checked my KH, it was 5dkh which is too low. I started to up it to 8 now. Is carbonate the only reason why LR is turning white ? I have a problem keeping my CA down [always around 550-600] and my KH up [using between 5 to 8]. What can i do ?

what else could be wrong ?

thanks bro :)

It is 800ppm the last I measured. It is being quite consistently low. Is magnesium critical ? I being trying to add more to lower my CA but it is quite expensive. The white stuff does not look like CA deposit. Is it due to my low KH ? I just extended my MH from 5 hours to 7 hours, could that cause some minerals to breakdown quicker ?
