Need info on T5 e-ballast connection

Bought a new Osram T5 e-ballast. I noticed that there are 3 connections on the left side of the ballast. They are on pin1 , pin2 & pin8.

I'm i right to say that ;

1) pin1 is to be connect to LIVE wire.

2) pin2 is to be connect to NETURAL wire.

3) So, what is the pin8 for ? ( i guess it is not for EARTH).

Please advise. thanks
