I already had a red coco worm living in my tank happily for many months, recently I bought another one. This new addition just won't pop his head no matter where I place him. He definitely has 'hair' 'cos I saw him trying to show his head when I moved him to a new place.... However, he showed his hair for a split second and then go back to his tube very quickly. I don't see any fish biting it....

Anybody has any idea? Thanks.

:) Greeting :)

how long have your new worm beem sitting in your tank?may take sometime

The coco worm is in my tank for a week already......

wrong position? trying a low flow area & see how.

I have also try to place this new one at the position where another coco worm was happily sitting without much success for a few days.....

I have really no idea as in why this new ones behave so strangely... What I worry is that this new one might be slowly starving to death if he still don't poke its head out.

it will take a while for it to get used to the tank, mine same like neokn only opens at night, but after a few months it starts to come out in the day.

I've got 1 coco worm in my sps area (high flow) and another 1 in a low flow area, both heads comes out and i do see the one in the high flow area coming out more often,

I believe if it knows that there are food to catch if it sticks its head out, it will come out, try to entice it by dosing food "near" to it's opening - hope it helps...-Jim

Just to put a fullstop to this thread that I have started..... This morning I woke up and saw that my new coco worm crown is fully expanded liao. This lead me to wonder why and the following could be the reason....

The new coco worm was not used to the high bioload (a lot of fish movement) in my tank (could be this worm is harvest in the wild) when I introduce him in. While my old coco worm is already used to it. (Old coco worm is popping its head while the new one hid away) These few days, I have been reducing my bioload.....that's make the new one more comfortable to pop its head.

**Hope my explaination here can help future coco worm query on this.....also I didn't want this thread to hang in the mid air 'cos I notice that a lot of good questions were left unanswer in this forum. Don't know whether is it cannot find the answer or the thread starter didn't want to share the answer after knowing it. ;) **
