no need to know the difference one.. u go to any shop, and ask the price of a clown, if less then $5 it's a fake if not it's a true :)

if the shop bluff.. then blacklisted :evil:

anyway.....

pegasus is right, more black around the center and also it's usually in a brighter shade of orange, provided the fish is healthy..

The world is such a wicked place,war btween the human race. People work to earn their bread,while across the sea they're counting dead

The phrase from LiveAquaris is pretty obvious;

"The Ocellaris Clownfish is often confused with the Percula Clownfish. Unless you are experienced with both fish, they are difficult to tell apart. The True Percula is a very bright orange, whereas, the Ocellaris tends to be more drably colored. The Percula Clownfish also has a thicker black outline to its white body stripes."

you can also look at the way the clowns are placed in the LFS. you can generally put a lot of false clowns together in one small tank safely, but you won't find perculas in any number larger than 2 cos they will fight.

Be teachable always, nobody has a monopoly on wisdom. But learn to distinguish "fact" from "opinion".

The actual scientific way for IDing true or false percs is in the number of dorsal spines on their back.. If memory serves me well, true percs have lesser dorsal spines (9 or 10) than false percs (11 or 12). There are some true percs in some regions that does not have distinctive darker shade, hence they are IDed this way.
