Acropora condition

Recommended Posts

Acros are SPS.

Your post title is not specific enough.

I'll add in a little...

and move it to the correct sub forum

Anyway...if you see tissues flying off or receding either from top or the base...its dying.

They can give out a strong smell as well.

Mine also turn white after buying it for a week. I put it away from the rest and very close to the lights at the top of LR. But rest of corals look ok. So do I have to throw it away or let it recover by itself? If so how long will it recover back to prime health?

thanks :thanks:

After verifying with fellow reefer, I confirmed it's RTN in my condition. before can do anything to it, Now it's all bleached in just few days...... :cry2:

It must be my lighting cos im using only PL lights while temp is abt 27-28.

Inadequate light alone would not cause RTN. At most, they'll turn brown and STN over time.

It is more likely your water conditions are not (yet) suitable for SPS.

I strongly suggest that unless you are prepared to undertake the financial & husbandry commitment and the knowledge required to raise SPS corals, DON'T.

You don't even have a calcium and alkalinity test kit and I bet you don't even add calcium/alk additives to your tank!

SPS corals DEMAND very good water parameters...

We can guide you along the way.... but if you really want to raise SPS corals, be prepared for a BIGGER commitment vs other types of corals. ;)

Haaa BIGGER commitment include

Salifert test kits, NO2, NO3, PO4, Ca, Kh, Mg around $160.

FR with Actived Carbon , PO4 absorber around $250

Ca reactor around $650

Tunze around $550

Skimmer around $500

i think that's all cheapest/good equipment. so around 2K for startup for just 60$ colony???????????????????????

think about it. in the half way difficult to quit ( like me )
