The waters in Singapore's seas are silty and polluted. IMO its not a good idea

People even go to the extent of getting an RO/DI unit for their tanks so seawater is totally OUT for me

well if u stay at tekong or other offshore island.... u might be able to...... my OC from tekong use the seawater to rear marine fish in his office................

Still i tink the water isn't good enough... if there's a oil spill, it will be worse... :(

How bout getting the seawater and going back to protein skimming it? Will it still be able to use? Hehe thinking bout this idea for a long time liao...

if u do it this way, then its not worth the effort...might as well get salt??

seawater that LFSes are selling are usually prefiltered...i prefer them to saltmix..but i know a lot of reefers will prefer otherwise...

as most mentioned, seawater around singapore is not very clean..look at the no. of ships running in singapore water..most importantly, sinagpore has the BUSIEST port so the water around us is not really clean...

i guess the only advantage of singapore's sea water is the high density of phytoplankton due to high nutrients. :P As far as i can remember, singapore water is either muddy with silts or greenish with high phytos density. but i read that singapore waters is still considered to be rich with marine life. wonder how that kind of water condition can support them.
