bubble size comparison for 3 skimmer

BTW: The photos are not in order.

The bubble density and size is just one factor that determines the performance of a skimmer.

We have to take into account the "dwell time" aka "contact time" which depends on the volume and flow thru rate of the skimmer.

The other is how efficient the skimmer is, takes how much power to run.

Never put in H&S? There so many models for H&S and what we commonly see in SGreef are the smallest and 2nd smallest models. Perhaps use an equivalent H&S to the capacity and size to BK, Deltec & Barr might prove interesting?

I don't have an access to any other type of skimmers except my other weipro 2014, maybe the rest with other skimmer can chip in.

Just stick a ruler to the main chamber then use your digital camera, focus on the ruler and snap a shot with flash will do.

I expect the H&S one to look like the deltec's as both uses similar technology.

from my ###### eye.. I cant see bubble size in my skimmer they are as fine as salt...

hmm maybe tonite I go back and try take photo(non marco lens) of it and see how..

This comparison is probably a subjective visual guage only and not an accurate assessment of the bubble quality.

The height & diameter of the skimmer body will affect the size (the higher up the column the bigger the bubbles). The beckett bubble also has a much longer route to travel compared to the BK or Deltec due to the downtube. The velocity may also cause some bubbles to collide and combine into bigger ones.

Also, how the air flow is tuned is also another factor. All the skimmers need an optimal air flow to get the right bubble size. Tuned wrongly, you'll get larger bubbles!

That said.... my guess is A: BK, B: Beckett, C: Deltec
