anyway that i can fix this programme?

BTW, im using MSN explorer now which looks too modern for me..

Hi Bro,

Did you just install Windows Service Pack 2... Or just install a Firewall programme... If yes, then I encountered the same thing as yours... So what I did is uninstall those things and it will be back to normal... ;)

i also thought it was service pack2.. but i deleted it already and the problem still persists.. hmmm regarding the installation of other programmes, im not sure because i just got back from a chalet and my sisters and their friends have been using my computer.. they are... errr 11? 12? around there la.. so when i asked them what did they install they didn't know anything <_<

so i can't tell what they have installed! lol

thanks damien.. i'll call up my ISP and see what they can do for me.. but from what i heard, starhub charges a truckroll of $32 or something if they come down and find out the problem lies not with them but with something else.. :erm:

can they teach me what to do over the phone? i know nuts when it comes to internet related problems anyway

Open up Internet Explorer Go to Tools then Internet Options.

Select the Connections tab, the LAN Settings.

On the proxy server, see any entries there? Untick the use proxy option then try again.

Alternatively check the cables connection from the modem to your PC.

this is a good suggestion, the part about untick proxy option.

it happens to me many a times especially when travelling with the laptop.

good luck.

shiraz, i will pm you my contact number. if you still run into a brick wall, call me in the evening. i will try to walk you thru on the phone and emulate my desktop settings. incidentally, my home pc runs on maxonline1500.

i tried this but to no avail.. the proxy settings were not ticked..

cable connections are all working fine because i can still surf the net.. i can use MSN explorer and Netscape.. but only IE can't function..

netscape has problems with many popups.. i can't even log into BBDC website.. and MSN if i use MSN explorer, i'd have to be connected to MSN messenger all the time.. which i am not so keen of.. :P

maybe DNS got problem.

open dos prompt and do the following:

Ping 165.21.103.210

Ping singnet.com.sg

report back results :P

but i use starhub leh.. not singnet.. if i were to ping singnet, i think i won't get any results back.. :P

sounds like sudden disconnection by starhub. This could happen sometimes.

next time it cannot work, open a command prompt then type in ipconfig /all

see if there's any ip addresses assigned by them.

If there is no ip address, do a renew or restart the whole PC then try again.

I hope I'm not being rude by hijacking the thread....

but I've got a problem with my IE as well.

the text on certain pages have become extremely small. like the mainpage of SGReef? the one with the two firefishes? now they look like it's on fontsize 8 or something.

I know it has something to do with my encoding. but the encoding settings that show the fontsize in it's original glory would be the chinese encoding. but that would make certain texts come out with chinese characters instead.

any idea to get around this?

any1 wanna join me searching for a male computer?:lol:

actually i think almost everything is labeled as 'she' or 'her' like a boat is always female, a car or bike always female.. maybe because they.. err.. always breakdown all of a sudden... like.. that time of the month all of a sudden?:lol:

no offence!
