Hi,

The snail is a Bulla Strombius. ML sells them.

I am keeping 1 in my main tank and 1 in my nano tank. Found them cute with their long beady eyes and elephant-like trunk mouth.

These fellas are reef-safe and make excellent cleaners, clearing the sand-bed of any detritus or uneaten food.

Unlike other snails, they always stay on the sandbed - never climb up the glass or lr. Sometimes, they may bury themselves in the sand if ur sandbed is thick enough.

:D

Hi,

Thanks.. that was fast and educational! :D

Your description of this snail's behaviour is what i have observed in my tank as well.

BTW, i picked it up when I was at a beach in Sentosa...very hardworking fella and likes to bury itself under the sand indeed. :yeah:

  • 1 month later...

Recently, I tried to move it to another tank but the moment i picked it up, it spewed out quite a lot of clear sticky liquid!!

By the way, it also has a blade like thing on its arm (yes...it has one arm which helps it move thru the sand.)

Anyone got any idea whether its a harmful snail?
