Perils of using non-PSB approved appliances

Came back one evening and thought what smelled suspiciously like my neighbour is burning up his kitchen again when I realised one of my multiplugs is fusing into the timer.

Being a electrical-goondu, I'm not sure which melted first. But that point was running about 300w only.

I suppose its good to share some 'DO-NOTS' in the hobby.

Feel free to contribute constructively to the thread.

my friend stays in a terrace just opposite bishan mrt, he used the non-PSB approved multi-plug just like the one shown in the picture. his whole room was caught fire due to that faulty plug which he used for his computer ......

after his sharing, our circle of friends all swtiched to PSB approved ones since then!

I using mutiple pieces of The Ben for all my lights and pumps for many years.

Each plug goes into each piece of Ben for fear of overloading. Maybe this helps. :P

But seriously...it looks scary. :o:o

Are there any other alternatives for the huge volume of electricity and the number of plugs we have to use besides doing somehting like what Roidan has done?

The mutliple switchboard? :P

But good to have you back on the board, Rumour. Been awol for a while, eh?

Riot, I've always been around, just not as active as before since the Forum is more or less on autopilot.

Think I better clarify that the TheBen timer is still functioning, its the $1.90 plug which melted into the timer. I've switched to a PSB approved plug which runs much cooler.

So be warned and pay the premium for quality appliance; it does not make any sense for thousand dollars investment to go down the drain due to a cheapass multiplug.
