Likelyhood is that it will grow again, adding rowas now will not stop the problem... I used Red Slime Remover by Ultralife with good results, only thing is that ur skimmer will go haywire...

U can get it at Reborn ( coz I tink this will be the next question u ask... :P )

Bro, certain additives would cause excessive foaming, you have to turn down ur skimmer when using the Red Slime Remover... though my skimmer went crazy for a day or two, the Red Slime Remover is real effective! :)

guys, i heard adding a UV will help, is that true?

but of cause we have to remove the old one inside the tank.

UV would only be good for killing water-bourne parasites/bacteria/etc... your red slime isn't gonna swim around for the UV to kill right? :P

i peeled away all the slime in the tank......... since they are no good stuff - came off easily..... i'll see how it goes as my budget restrains me from rowaphos..... thanks guys....

Invest in rowa coz really helps in controlling algae other than your cyno. Also increase water circulation .

i got UV in my setup... coralife 6x. dont seem to work for slime.... but got some control over brown algae over my glass...... haf to clean tank less frequent.... controlling phosphate with media is still beyond my budget.

can i know what is rowa?  :thanks:

Full name is Rowaphos. Not sure who makes is, but is it a German product that is very popular here. It is used to removal Phosphate from the aquarium, as Phosphate is one of the product for algae growth. You can get it from quite a few LFS. Also, some of our sponsors are selling it.

one of the more common & best way to test when to change ur phosphate remover media, e.g. rowaphos, will be to test ur water parameters with a reliable PO4 test kit.

my rowa reduced po4 from 1ppm to 0 in a week

po4 remover will remove po4 will only lower chances or SLOW DOWN an outbreak..it can't gaurantee no outbreak

so since u haf baby slime, the only wae to tell if yr po4 remover is working is if u see that it doesn't spread as fast as b4

one more question.

how long did this phospate remover remove the entire phospate?

i have it in my tank for 48 hours and i can see the baby red slime alge still appear. but in very less compare to previous.

Good things happen slowly, bad things happen in an instance in the marine aqyaria hobby. be patient.

btw, PO4 is not the only factor that is fuelling ur algae growth. u'll hv to keep other parameters in check 2.
