guys what temperature is ideal for a reef tank? 26 27 28 29 30 degrees?

can i use 4 pc fan to just cool the water and use a float switch to auto top up everytime?

of course a chiller is better :)

will the level of supplement in the tank drop tremendously due to the high evapouration rate and the constant top up of freshwater / or will the supplement still remain in the tank ;)

just wanna clear my thoughts

around 27 +/- 1deg is good for me.

of coz u can. i used to employ 4pc fans to cool down my water temp 2 till i upgraded to a chiller. for fans, there is high evap rate, likely tendency to fail when compared to chiller, limitation of bring down temp, etc.

IMHO, there wun be any drastic change in parameters unless the evap rate is rather high and u hv a small tank vol. in this case, water parameters r rather difficult to maintain. i remember vaguely that only pure water evaporates.

:P juz me 2 cents.

Hello bro

What is the use of fan, to blow away the warm air on top on the tank or make the water temp. lower?

Does more fan or more powerful fan will help to make the temp. lower?

:)

main purpose of the fan is to increase evaporation rate... thereby lowering the temperature of remaining water in the tank. If you remember your secondary science, those molecules that 'escape' from the water surface are of higher energy... hence the remaining water will be cooler..

fans are to cool the water to make temp lower.

but be prepared to top up water on a daily basis.

yup i intend to use a float switch to auto top up everytime ;)

well more fan = faster evapouration rate = lower temperature -- thats what i believe hee

go buy a chiller.

i used to have 1 big fan blowing at the water, temp range from 27-29, but need to top up water everyday, 3litres. too troublesome.

just bought 1 resun cl300 for $290, set it at 26deg, chiller will kick in at 28deg. top up water once a week. about 3 litres, but per week now.
