Drilling of glass tank

hi,

any DIYers out there can help me to drill hole and do an overflow on my 2 ft tank?

or is there any shops that do this cheaply? or maybe can teach me how to do it...

I think its much better and safer to bring your tank to an experienced tank maker to get your tank drilled. Try not to do it yourself as you might crack your tank.

If you already have a electric drill (with speed control) at home, just go to hardware store to buy a diamond drill bit for glass (about $20++,depend on size), keep spraying water while drilling. Think is still cheaper then you carrying your tank here & there to get somebody to do it... not cheap also.

To drill it yourself you risk breaking your tank and make a mess of your place when that happens. Especially if it is a used tank.

Any thing to look out for? ... besides spraying water while drilling.

support on the bottom, and stick a transparent tape on both side.

drill at a very very slow speed.

Dont use diamond drill bit. Much more risky. Use a diamond hole saw instead. Drilled many holes on new and old tanks so far. Non cracked.

i suggest an overflow box round the hole in case the fitting becomes loose over time.
