Caulerpa produces chemicals that can irritate or even kill organisms. In nature, these chemicals only affect things that are either in direct contact or very close to the caulerpa; however, in our tanks these chemicals can build up in the water and affect everything in the tank. I have found that when I let the caulerpa in my tank grow uncontrolled, that many of my polyps don't open fully and will even begin to shrink in size. I have also noticed that the growth of coralline algae will slow or even stop if I have too much caulerpa in the tank. Also, the "roots" or filaments that caulerpa use to attach itself to rocks are known to excrete an acidic substance that will actually dissolve coralline algae. When I aggresively remove caulerpa, everthying in my tank seems to do better.

In my opinion, caulerpa and coralline algae are a bad combination. Actually, I am now of the opinion that caulerpa really has no place in a home aquarium. There are many other algae that can be used to export nutrients that do not have the same problems that caulerpa has.

that is email from RC members. and I have been proved by my self that after I removed caulerpa by my self from my tank I look my coraline algae start to spread and the color become nicely.
