will UV sterilizer effect protein skimmer?

helo guys, i install a 9 watts uv on my tank, my tank only have 3 fishes, no sandbed, running a 2012 weipro skimmer.... be4 i install my uv, the skimmer is still skimming tea..... after uv install, the skimmer not skimming anything at all! the water level in the skimmer is above the water level marking, near the narrow neck.

My question is will uv sterilzers effect the skimming of protein skimmers?

Your UV is brand new is it? must be some of the parts of the UV has some chemicals that affected the skimming.

When I was running my UV, my skimmer skimming as usual

Something I like to share concerning UV.Not all UV are meant for saltwater.Most are made for freshwater like ponds.The thickness of the tube determines whether it is made for saltwater.If I am not wrong is abt 6-9mm.Any bros care to comment?

do u guys think UV bad for corals? i heard it kills everything including the usefull bacteria.
