hole size on tank linking to sump?

holes should be as big as the union that u are going to use .. the union come in standard size big small medium large xlarge find out at the local hardware shop... get the union first (bigger better for water outlet to sump) before drilling the hole ... so as to be able to properly fit later ....

A 1 inch hole should be ok, best get two for a spare/ emergency standpipe.

Some use a 1.5inch bulkhead, but might be a bit more difficult to find the necc piping material.

In doubt, get the bulkhead fitting first and show to the driller/ glass manufacturer. Make sure they drill and can fit your bulkhead.
