hairy like green algae

Recommended Posts

hi ive been cycling my tank for about 1month now with live rocks, live crushed corals and one yellow tailed damsel fish (nothing else). i went on vacation for about 4days and when i came back the front and back of the aquarium was covered in what seems like green hair algae, but im not sure. tested everythin from amonia to

phosphate and every test results is a 0. did partial water change. is this normal? what causes this? am i doing something wrong?

usually it's phosphate... which phosphate test kit are u using? i don't know it nitrate contributes to the growth but it's very very VERY hard to remove all the hair algae!

u have to take out all the rocks and scrub it all clean.. no trace of hair algae should be in the tank because if 1 strand were to detach itself and get stuck to another rock, it would grow a whole new clump there..

that's what happened to me and now due to numerous taking out and scrubbing of rocks, my tank is almost bare.. all the corals could not take it.. :pinch:

The world is such a wicked place, war btween the human race. People work to earn their bread, while across the sea they're counting dead
