hi, does anyone know how long it actually takes to cycle an aquarium to where you can actually put delicate species such as corals and other sensetive fish. how would i know when my tank is mature enough?

U can put in a market prawn to cycle rather than using any live fish or corals.

Buy some test kit to test water parameter b4 putting any LS.

Thats a very difficult question to answer, likely to take months. Example, if you setup a Plenum/DSB, they would take awhile(maybe around 3-5months) to kick in and perform dentrification for you.

You need to test water parameters every now and then before you can determine if its ok. Ensure everything is within recommended ranges(kH= 8-12, Calcium= 400-450, pH=about 8.3,ammonia=0,nitrite=0 etc..) and that nitrates are kept below 5, the lower the better.
