Hi, my tank has just finished cycling and I added afew shrimps to it

(My tank is a invert. tank, so it'll just be shrimps and 1-2 pipefish)

I guess my bioload will be very little.

But I would like to know besides topping-up water and keeping the slanity level on the mark. Is there any thing else I need to do?

Maybe add addtional calcium? or change my carbon in my filter bag? or add mag?

I have a refug. with 'grape' algae in it. With a pl light on 24/7. A prizm skimmer.

I also keep 1 starpoylps and 1 button polyps. and a plate coral.

Would love to hear from.

1.What you do for mantainence in YOUR tank and why do add certain things

2.Advice for my tank (:

My tank set up has 3 tier - all 2feet tanks

TOP TANK (Invert + soft corals)

MIDDLE TANK (2-3clowns, getting rid of them soon. empty tank)

BOTTOM TANK (Sump tank with refug)

Cheers!!

Bro, your question too vague, ther are lots of husbandry duties which I tink many people would be too lazy to type out everything for you... maybe u should do some reading on tank maintainence and then u know how to ask more specific questions....

One question for you, why do you wanna dose magnesium? Do you know wat is it for??

People do not plan to fail; Often they just fail to plan...

Wat I do to prevent myself from tearing my hair out... My stress remedy...

Welcome to the money ######, heart wrenching, mind boggling world of marine! :P

As you're tank is still new (just finish cycling ~1-2mth), go slow on yr stocking.

Before you go abt dosing anything in your tank, make sure you measure the perimeter you're going to dose :nuke:

I doubt there is a need to dose Ca or Mg now as your coral loading is low. I know ppl who just do water changes and need not dose.

Coraline algae will suck yr Mg, unless your tank is covered in coraline I doubt there is any need to worry abt it now.

And you only mention tt you have a plate coral, so yr Ca shouldn't deplete so fast

As for maintanence:

(1) Monitor yr NO2/NO3 just in case of any spikes suddenly :pinch:

(2) Make sure yr algae dun turn asextual (not sure how to spell) :paiseh:

(3) Carbon change ~10-14 days (1 teaspoon - 2 teaspoon)

 Kinda agree yr questions are very broad base, maybe can narrow down to specific questions? Easier for us to give an answer AND do a search before posting yr questions, cos more often than not many others would have posted the questions before :eyeblur:

cheers
