hi,

wat u guys have in ur sump? ( maybe u will like to post some pix of it )

DSB? Refugium? Algae? Lighting?

is lighting a must in order to let DSB work?

or issit there for the algae to grow?

wat types of algae should we have there?

tink lights r for algae

the algae most people use and which i think is most suitable for sump is caulerpa

but remember to keep lights on 24/7 and trim some awae every week

Design the 1st compartment for skimmer, 2nd compartment a DSB (optional) and third compartment your return pump,FR & chiller pumps.

A refugium (macroalgae growth) is not useful if its small, you will need at least 3/4 your tank size for effective nutrients export using a refugium. 24hrs lightings is to help prevent macroalgae turning assexual.

my sump is split into 2 parts.

1st part, overflow pipe output to sump.

there are 2 skimmers there and 1 bag of po4 absorber.

2nd compartment has 2 return pipe back to tank. 1 of the pump is piped to the chiller and then out to the tank.

that's abt it.

i do have a 4" DSB in the main tank.
