thinking of getting anthias

my advice: dun keep them if u are not prepared to feed up to 6 times a day with cyclopeeze.. initial weaning process to mysis shrimp takes some time.

Male:Female best to keep 1:4 or below..

try not to mix different species.

Some species are especially difficult to feed. u must make sure ur tank makes them feel secure enough to roam around and school. provide ample food for them

I'd recommend getting the easier species first - I've been keeping a small bunch of lyretail anthias for a few months, and these are rather low-maintenance and not fussy about food. I feed mine 1-2 times a day, and they take anything from cyclop-eeze to chopped prawns to my fingers. :o

lyretails huh?

ok

any other easy types that i might wanna consider keeping?

would u guys recommend dispar anthia?...its real pretty.....

dispar are very easy to keep but feeding wise must at least twice a day. some more they dun take food that lands on the sand bed.food wise any dry food will do.

best keep five and above.

purple queen are very hard to keep. feed with only cyclopeeze. best keep at last five and have to be the first or with slow feeders . feed three or four times a day dun eat food on the sand bed.

lyretail anthais eat almost every thing, most easy to keep and can keep in pair or with fast feeders(ensure that they eat before buying them.)

treadfin goldie , sea goldie, fairy anthias.same as lyretail.

square anthias have not keep before.

IMHO,

hardest are Purple Queens... have tried Dispars, Evansi, Bartlett, Sunburst and purple queens.... Dispars easy, hide 3-4 days, start eating, evansi hide all the time, but eats within few days, Bartletts super easy, hide one day start eating, sunburst hide for few days den start eating...

Purple Queens hide for 4-5 days, comes out, starts eating but they eat like one mouth every 30 seconds, by then all the food finished by other fishes... :(

People do not plan to fail; Often they just fail to plan...

My Anthias eat dry flake after I starve them for a day.

Some might think I am horrible but I am not. I am a good guy

:lol::lol::lol:

I feed them only 3 times a day from Mon to Fri because working.....

Sat and Sun will be 5 times.

Always feed with dry food then after a few hours mysis shrimp cubes.

My personal opinion as for easy to keep anthias will be blue eyes & dispar

As for male and female ratio, I keep more then 1 male and it is OK. It depends the size of your tank and some luck.

I have a blue eyes (female) recently change completely to male. The color is totally different. Now I have 3 male blue eyes in my tank.

:D:D:D

gd to hear so manyt people sae dispars r easy but i'm still worried over the fact that my dispars haven't been eating for 2daes while in betta box, 2days after being released into my tank and they spent 3 in the shop so they ahven't been eating for a total of a week.

how long can they survive without food?

i've tried flakes, pellets, mysis, brine, cyclopeeze but nothing works.

gd thing is they dun hide...alwaes swimming around...they only hide wen i get close to the tank to feed

ani ideas to get them to eat?
