Another way, hide one of the jerry can during your next in-camp and retrive it after your in-camp.

make sure you take the proper jerry can and not the POL one. one of my storeman friend went to fill up the POL can with water. and it almost got loaded onto the BnSA supply truck for our FTX when I was still a NSF.

how on earth do you hide a jerry can anyway. those things are a little too big to hide underneath your number four.

Hide it in the brush during field training.

And true, make sure they are not POL cans or just make sure you don't get the jerry cans that is at the back of the Land Rover/ 3 Tonner in the field.
