yea , he makes me look really bad ...hahah

Don't feel bad ler, forumers from Sgreef and also my local marine forum and not to forget some websites have been my online tutors ever since I started off with my 2ft pilot tank...and had began to understood a little here and there about marines which I started with zero knowledge.

I owed everyhting to you guys/gals. I had no immeadiate friends nor neighbours to ask, wonders of the internet had made My First Marine a reality...

Thanks again, all for advices and pointers....now lies the task of maintaining the tank to its expectation and hope it will last for a long time...still I consider myself a newbie, lots of things to learn, setbacks to encounter, caring of corals and fish habits, tank maintainances and water chemistry whereby the knowledge which is needed to ensure success...wish me luck.

Very nice and colourful tank, looks a bit like mine!

Take extra care for your clams, goniopora and alveopora as the latter two are not so hardy and clams needs strong light and sometimes they suddenly die for no apparent reasons (disease among clams are quite common). Keep up the good effort, your tank is already better than a lot of old timers tank!

No problem, we are here to learn from each other, "The Blur Leading The Blind and hopefully those with eyeglasses show us the way"...so to speak.

So happened you asked....I follow a strict rule of doing 25% waterchange once a forthnight plus 3 times water top-up(addatives used :Seachem Reef Trace, Plus and Iodine) and not forgetting vacumm detrius(done with a gravel pump)...how your routine then?

OH that seems like alot of work to be done.

For my case, im jsut going into the NO3 stage of cycling bacteria.

I didn,t know that LS couldnt go in straight and killed quite a number of fishes...

After reading and picking up tips from seniors, im finally getting somewhere.

I will also take note of your 25% fortnight water change.

But as for the rest, is it necessary for my FOWLR setup ?

Im planning to stick to FOWLR till im ready in maybe a years time?

With better experience, more knowledge and better equipment before i take the huge step.

Am planing to add a Blue tang and yellow tang to my existing snowflake eel

.

U got any comments or tips for me ?

IM currently using

2 feet - 18 gallons (US)

2 x t8 flourescent tube (blue and white)

1 x FL light (blue and white)

1.5-2 inch DSB

10 kg of LR and stackhorns

Jebao 915 external Canister

cheap China wood skimmer

mini fan blower

seachem ammonia stick on meter

thermometer stick on type

pH tester

NO2 tester

floating type hydrometer

bacteria growth

Hi Azra,

Mind telling much the corals and fiches cost over there.

I went to Penang in Dec but couldn't find any LFS. I only went to the Research and Development of fisheries, forgetton the name already. The place is not worth going except for the turtles.

HI AZRA, ive dropped by a LFS and got myself a NO3 and KH tester today

i also bought aonther 5 kg of LR. below is a new picture of my rock layout.

Think i wrote wrong ....not a fan blower but instead a water pump.

These are the readings of my water quality before i added in the LR today.

ph - 9.0

NO2 -0.3

NO3 - 60.0

KH = 14

ammonia lvl = safe

water salinity at 1.021

Pls advice ...thanks

Hi Azra,

well most of them ranges from RM45 - RM120, you have to be specific about this..prices differs depending on species and size though.

There are 3 Marine FS in the island.

1. Hock Lye Marines at Glugor

2. Quay MArines opposite Bukit Jambul Mall

3. CTY Aqua, Jlan Burmah near KOMTAR Tower ( 4 storeys) high)

Mainland

1. Wonderland - Chai Leng PArkm Butterworth

2. BM Marines - Bukit Mertajam

3. Amazon Aquarium - Bukit Metajam

I guess you have not been asking the locals there about their whereabouts...heheheh

Give some more space for your bubble. After 6 months or so, it will double the size and the tentacles will be quite long and destructive.

Ok noted...thanks for the tip

I'm holding on for more corals, keeping tracks of changes in the next 4 months and see wheather growth of the existing corals is happening. As for now all seemed ok.. all ANN stays "0" for the past 2 months, and I hope it stays that way forever ..hehehe...

Now time to enjoy the tank and not forgeting abiding weekly maintainance chores.
