nice tank bro...

but i feel that the amount of LR is not enough for a 4 ft tank.

mine is about 100kg and i dun find it enough still.

and also i dun think 2 x Seio m620 is good enough for your tank. I'm using 3 x M820 and current is only so so.

;)

Another reefer doing double skimming. :yeah:

Nice work with your power supply panel, you did it yourself? ;)

nice tank bro...

Thanks...just a start for a newbie though

but i feel that the amount of LR is not enough for a 4 ft tank.

..think should be ok..those LR i got are large bulky ones...adding corals later, I think might go up to the top of the tank.

and also i dun think 2 x Seio m620 is good enough for your tank. I'm using 3 x M820 and current is only so so

Yep if thats the only pumps to the internal water around the tank...presently my tank water movement is ok...other the the two seio devices(each facing the glasswalls), I have 2X 4800lhr(primary -direct return, secondary - via chiller) return pumps and 1 canister pumps aiding the water flow(estimated calculation 14X)....more than that would surely cause a whirlpool....

From my understanding about Seio device it's not a powerhead..water movement is being projected radially(soft water streams) not like ordinary powerheads which project a hard stream of water (might hurt corals)

btw..thanks for the tips.......just my 0.05 cents

yup...had a helping from my son, doing his 2nd yr in polytech and also from a certified electrician friend who gave me the advice and drawing up the circuit board. Since I have about 13 electrical appliances running the tank, it would be a logical thought that 1 wall socket won't hold the electric flow. Every 2 appliances is run through 1 X 20amp fuse.

I think you are the first newbie that have shown planning, patience, good knowledge and judgement!

Most of the newbies I encountered are those that buy tank, buy livestocks bring home and set-up. When fishes dies, that's when they will start looking around for answers.

:bow::bow::bow:

Like the well thought power supply panel. Hope to have one too but no lobang. :(

Thanks,....well I have waited about 3 months before getting this 4ft. 2 months running my 2 footer (my learning stage). Bought all the neccessary equipment at that stage and always buy those which can support a bigger tank. After venturing this new hobby(reading, researching and joining variuos forums) which I know nothing of (been keeping freshwater fishes only all my life), MARINES - entirely a different world/scenario, bigheadache but challenging !..It's is certainly a 'Big Hole in the pocket hobby'...luckily for me we both (wifey and family) had given me the support I wanted....it all started because of "Nemo"...hehehehe

It is SunCoral..quite difficult to keep. Need low lightings (placement-lower levels preferably). Needs target feeding - minched market shrimps. I'm using this technic to feed them ( see attached pic)..fish do get to steal the food away, it is a slow eater, 1 minched shrimp might take up 6-8 hours to finish. Feeding time - when all lights are off.

btw..I'm not from Sg...I'm your closest neighbour.

Great job Azra! your sun is beautiful. ;)

I have them too but as I am a fan of Anthony Calfo who preaches a more natural way of feeding them - I will mix powdered zoo plankton with water and pour it into my tank nightly so that all my corals including the suns will capture their 'food' directly from the water column. At first I was worried that they will not survive but its been 4mths and they still open nightly at the same time expecting to be fed.

Thanks...I do feed my other corals with planktons, currently using 3 types : Golden Pearl- Aquaz, Dried Sprayed Phytoplanton - ESV and 5 in 1 Liquid Sea Plankton - AquaPham usually at night (all lights off) never thought that my sunsoral do feed on them.

According to A.Calfo, most corals will feed on minute particals suuch as zooplankton or phytoplankton. This is because most large pieces will be eaten by fishes even before it reach the corals.

But i must say that in order to do that i must place the sun near a powerhead so that the current will carries the particulate food to it.

By the way, which part do you stay? North, Central or South (right next to us)

I like that place!

Are you affected by the Tsunami?

Sad to hear such a catastophe can happens so near to us.

Btw are you able to get marine livestocks that easily?

I have tried to look for marine shop whenever I am in KL but the most presentable one I have been so far is the one in Ikea Damansara.

I just visited your website and saw that you have a Picaso Trigger. May I ask how long have you had it in your tank? And does it try to eat your Cleaner Shrimp or nibble on your liverocks or other corals?

well.... he's in another tank actually, in the 2 footer(which I have at hand) when newly I started doing marines, now it had become my Fish Only Tank with the trigger and copperband since they are coral eating species it's not advisable to put them in my coral tank  ..been there 2 months already.

Thank god, nope, I'm on the mainland.

Sad to hear such a catastophe can happens so near to us.

Yes indeed, Indonesia, India, Thailand and Sri Langka was hit badly both physicaly and spiritually depressing :( May god bless their souls. Amen.)

Btw are you able to get marine livestocks that easily?

There are about 5 Marine LFS around here (3 on the island and 2 mainland). Was told many are brought in from Fiji, Phillipines and Indonesia (Batam Islands). Not much of SPS collection thou.I think corals $$$ might take a hike ..next shipment

I have tried to look for marine shop whenever I am in KL but the most presentable one I have been so far is the one in Ikea Damansara.

Not familiar with LFS in KL ...500km from where I am. Only go there on business trips no time to sneek out to look for fish/corals.. :D
