Was wondering where to get the ballast n endcaps... anyone can advise me on that cos I was thinking of DIY n I cannot find the old thread b4 the forum is down....

btw, that's all I need other than reflector rite? correct me if i'm wrong

birdfish is 'ahem' currently very much in love

so might be MIA for a while....

but i do know that he has a lot of stock cos overorder.

the encaps should be $5 a pc (not sure),

waterproof from icecap,

IMO, very cheap loh.

wont explode bro.. as long as your T5 tube is between 36 -40watt.. the eballast can support up to 2 T5 tube

Just wondering, what is the real difference between a specified T5 eballast and a normal elhbiru eballast? I've read here that using a specified T5 ballast may help to lengthen the life span of the tube, but has that been tested anywhere?

theres a reason ppl buy special $60 osram t5 eballasts for their t5 instead of a $20 36-40 elbiru one man..

The difference between elbiru and osram eballast is that the osram eballast has a preheat function as opposed to that of elbiru which fires the tubes up right away after the lights is turned on. T5s are preheat tubes, the use of preheat eballast is so as to increase the life of the tubes. I have used both types of eballast in the past so I am not sure how much is the difference in the lifespan of the tubes as my attrition rate is very high, replacing my tubes very often, switching from one type of light to another. Maybe someone who has used elbiru and osram eballasts for qutie some time can comment on that. Hope this helps.... Me still buried under all my school work...
