Please help ID this bugger

Just discovered my fire goby got its top fin ripped off...... I am very suspicious of the crab I saw lurking in my tank......... general rules for crabs (except the Acro Crabs) take them out and put them in your sump...or ... :evil:

Not sure of the name of this crab.

But they are definately plentiful in local waters. Whenever i see them, they are grazing on the algae around our local breakwaters. They may well be vegetarian. T4 unless u have a lighted sump, it will probably die there which can result in other complications.

Largest i have seen about 1 inch (shell only)

the thing is... this fellow probably hitch-hiked from some rocks or coral and i only just spotted him this week... have seen him put sand in his mouth so i'm really not sure if he's dangerous... so far, all the crab traps have failed so i suspect he's not attract by the shrimp meat that i put into the trap at all?

Yeah and also the very expensive tebby bear crab from hawaii if i am not wrong :lol::lol::lol:

Hi I also noticed a "large crab" last night in my tank, I assume it's hitched a ride in one of the corals I got back from the LFS. Can advise what is the chicken essense bottle trick?

put bottle on your sandbed with some food in. crab goes in but cannot come out.

We are talking about small crabs of course. :rolleyes:
