No Chiller, Reasons

1. Found no place to locate YET

2. Broke

So trade in with 6L topup water everyday :(

Ur Tunze TS12 blew off ur sandbed to half the depth of the original level. Are the rock structure stable? Are you not afraid of rock slide or any kind like that? :o

Oh it blow more than half, I would say from 4" DSB become 1" Sand Bed Only.

Not afraid of rock slide anymore. I did encounter one month ago and rescaped to make sure no rock slide or move by placing rock deep ( to bottom of the tank ).

Thinking of getting another Tunze 6100 while recape again next month. Learning every day how to make full use of the equipments. Seem other people idea and cut and paste there to achieve very good water movement. Currently, wave make lot of noise that can hear wave bounsing from a few meter away and lot of salt splash to MH casing.

It's the best place after some mental caculation :P. Tried so many places, not best result. So far now giving me the best. Even with TS12 , seem like my tank has not enough current yet :(

Now Tunze become my tank center peice. Since pay 500+, must well show off, we don't buy expensive item to keep in the drawer, do we.

Thank for all your guys encouragements.

How do you know I am not :P Because another Tunze :) So far my tank temp is max 28. Hot Hot day 29. So playing abit also :) Believe in current than temp.

But really broke. Haa Haa economy is no good. Company I work for also not so good. And I am keep spending money and time in reefing.

Thank for your concern Ancelot.

I'd gone through supre hot day 2 months ago. My tank's highest tempature was 29.5 for halfday with so many PH running.

Currently me with Tunze ( which has less heat ) and no more PH. My tank tempature is stable in between 27-28 ( MH off - MH on ). It may be on abit high side , anyway, there is no way you could tell which is right temp. As long as all our SPSs are coloring up. So do my SPSs :P

Cheers

Correct... there is no way to tell you the right temp and the wrong temp but the month of May may result a higher temp than 29.5. Imagine now is Dec then next month is May-June what will happen i cant tell you cause temp is a funny fellow you cant control it but you can prevent it.. at least when high temp comes in your tank wont feel the impact so greatly.. i am really worried for the heat emission in your tank.. because of your lights.. SOrry dude i didnt mean to be so uptight.. just tat i feel responsible...

huh?? what december next month is May-June?? The month after december is January!

dun really get what you mean...

Anyway Fans don't blow hot air into the tank and heat it up.. The way tank cools is by making the water evaporate... By blowing at the surface it gives the water molecules more kinetic energy so they can break the intermolecular bonds and evaporate to become air... in the process taking latent heat of vaporisation away from the body of water... Therefore by directing the fans' airflow towards the water surface, it will increase evaporation significantly and bring down the temp as evaporated water takes away heat energy from the body of water.

Think temperatures up to 30 degrees celcius is ok as long as the corals are acclimatised to this temperature... The enzymes in the corals work optimally at this temperature range.. in fact the higher the temperature, the higher the metabolism of the corals.. Meaning they use more energy, need to feed more and grow more.. It raises the metabolism of all the organisms in the tank in fact.. conversely, keeping the temp down will also keep the bioload lower... but if ur skimmer and filtration can handle it then there's no problem...

ryz maybe you misunderstood me now.. haha.. but never mind..

well.. what i mean is if your surrounding temp is high, there is a unlikely chance that the air the fans are pushing through are warm but not cold.. so you may be evaporating water from the tank but you might be introducing thermal radiation into your tank.. Something like that.. get the idea? hehehe...

I do believe in Current. Because how much you have is never able to achieve to the ocean level ( so does lighting ). Since we can't create sun, however we could create near current level.

I have 1xTunze TS12 ( 50-100% in 4 Sec ) so would say running aroung 7,500L/Hrs in avg and 2,800L/Hrs return pump for my 3'. But I find it's not enough.

I'd recaped yesterday with some help from SBS_Transit to maximize the Tunze. I put more rock on the back and side , so more troublance water could be. And I see my SPSs are swinging Left Right Up Down. Polys are extending like no one business ( with or without light on , same ).

I don't know much about the coral grow yet as so early to tell. I am with SPS for only 2-3 months. First month, all my SPS were doing well but bicolor blenny wipe out whole tank.

I do believe I have achieve to one stage since all my SPS are coloring without any much effect.

Nice tank and...amazing you can do without chiller, but the topup will be everyday I presume. You might want to automate it with float switches.

BTW, how do you maintain your Cal and KH - dose everyday ?

Topup, about 6L a day on HOT HOT Day, Cold day like today 1L

All Parameters,

Dosing traceelements weekly.
