Hi.

Looking for a reliable and fair priced electrician who can rig up a MCCB and connect up powerpoints for my new tank setup. Think this will be useful for other reefers as well, esp those who are not tech savvy but want a power system that is safe and wont trip.

Thanks!

:)

Hello :)

I think a MCCB is sort of like a circuit breaker thingy so it will trip and not the rest of the house. Also, can put in a timer (haager type) so 400w MHs wont "stick" or "jam", esp on those cheapo timers (they burn out after a while unable to handle the load). Sorry, I hope this makes sense.

Thats why I am looking for a electrician who has done this sort of thing before and knows what I am rambling about. Will be grateful if any reefer can offer his contact, or even better yet, a reefer electrician :)

Er, If its the circuit breaker ###### haager timer unit, yes.

specifically, if you dont mind my layman language-

circuit breaker stuff

timer unit capable of handling 400w

connected to new powerpoints to power the chiller plus pumps.

Really appreciate the help, guys.

Oceandeep, you got PM.

After reading the thread, this post from dersuz to yazid:

"It looks very dangerous to me, Yazid. If you accidentally touch the Live bar on the top right, it will kill you. WRONG MEHTOD OF CONNECTION.".

I am scared now. Willing to pay to fix this up :) I am sure this might be a frequent biz from other reefers as well. Any contacts?

MCCB = miniture close circuit breaker

Just flip through the Yellow pages .. got so many!!! Let our fingers do the walking... haa haa

Our wiring is a amll job, so let the electrician know what are you needs before hand. Would make the job faster and smoother sailing

If i'm not wrong all incoming supply MUST be properly insulated! :pinch: Even our house breaker box doesn't have any exposed wires... All wires must be poperly terminated with insulated lugs / crimps for safety.

Better get that fixed :peace:

It's ok to have fried lizards once in awhile, but not a fried human..... :pinch:

Though a ELCB would probably save his life but he'll get a pretty GOOD shock!!!:evil:

Got another reefer to help out. His advise is that my old circuit breaker cannot take up any more slots, so got to upgrade to a new breaker setup. That will support my new reef dedicated powerpoints. Man, this is getting expensive. Just to check, there's no other way to load up new powerpoints to run with a haager timer at a cheaper cost? I am quite lost- I thought could just rig a haager and additional points to an existing one.

Concussed liao.
