Questions on Return Pump

Hi.....

I want to buy a return pump...

i have settled on 2 choices.....either the eheim 1260 or the Sicce Extremea

Which is better.....

Pros of Eheim 1260

1)Can run externally so wont heat up water

2)Very reputable....and i believe is also a very long lasting pump

Cons of Eheim 1260

1)price!!!!

1)Price

1)have to use in-sump totally immersed = more heat tranferred to water

the eheim 1260 runs on 65W giving output of 2400l/h

Extremea runs on 35W giving output up to 2500l/h

but the delivery head for 1260 is 3.7m and the extrema only 2.4m.

Folk out the extra, go for ehiem, you'll not regret it.

Personally I had some bad experience with ehiem. I find their heat generated is quite high, even when used externally. I had previously used a 1260 to drive my weipro 2014 for a 2 ft tank. It still raises the temp of my tank by 2 degrees.

You can consider aqua bee. I am using it externally with my 2014 for a nano 1.5ft tank. No difference to my temp. Really like the pump. It is even cool to the touch.

Go for EHIEM.

What tank size you having, 2 footer/3 footer.

If 3 footer even bettre go for 1262 model.

Running 1260 & 1262 on my 3 footer now.

currently using the 1260 to my chiller externally.

Can't really feel the heat on the pump.

Definitely go for eheim. Sicce pumps produces alot of heat from my experience. Not something you want running 24/7 in your tank.

sicce hard to find parts.

eheim 2 years warranty!

eheim easier to connect due to its wide variety of connectors. sicce only one size and the connector is quite short!

only thing i hate about eheim is the size!!
