My suggestion would be to remove the bio-balls and invest on biohome... this will solve the problem of nitrate problems...

do u means those ceremic piecesthat comes in small cylinder shapes???

If i put top ceremic pieces followed by lower layer those large dead coral pieces can do ???

because it simply means a name of a LFS. so must censor. Back to ur design,u must make sure wadever u input into ur chiller, for ur case, a cannister is strong enough to drive water into ur chiller.. bio balls, i've seen alot of reefers using it, but some do away with it.. so have to wait for more comments..
