Return Pump

It looks like I might be starting a new tank. It will be a 2X2X2 with a sump. Can I solicit feedback on what return pump is suitable? I'm looking at 600GPH at 4ft. Beside, Eheim 1260 (not sure if this pump can deliver the performance), what others are there?

Regards

eheim 1260 can do the job for your tank size. Any pump that has equilvant rating will do the job just as nice. It all depend on how much u want to spend on the pump. A cheap china brand like weipro, atman will be much cheaper than eheim, ocean runner, etc.

:) Greeting :)

Tank: 4' by 2' by 2' (CR antique)

Sump: 3' include 1' refuigm

My advice is to go for germany or japanese brand pumps for reliability to minimise risk on pump failure & casualty on your expensive LS.

Go for a good 20X turnover rate return pump so no need to upgrade in future.

You were reasing my mind! Been researching, so far looks like the Eheim is the best bet.

I think 20X abit too much, besides the pump will cost me an arm and a leg! And it will eat into my chiller budget! But I have to agree about the German quality, hence will go for Eheim, unless a better deal comes up!

How about Sicce Extremea?

it has a output of up to 2500l/hr...runs only on 35W

Can it be used also??

only drawback is that it runs immersed........

I don't think it is big enough. After head loss and frictional/bends losses due to the pipes, the output will be less that 2500 L/hr.

i tried to use the calculator leh.......

but they dun have an aquabee option.......

which option should i use as a good subsitiute for aqua bee??

depending on what flowrate u want ur return to be. so let's say u wanna use a aquabee 3000L, one of the options will be to go to marinedepot.com to find out a similar rated pump for 3000l.

bro have u ever considered the rio hyper flow. it gives e best flow per watt i think. i got 1 myself. cant wait to hook it up.....

then again the smallest - 50W with 4900l may be too much for your tank, unless ur sump is some distance away.....
